Four machines, sorted by GPU class: the big card thinks, the middle one speaks and paints, the small one watches: and a fourth, with no GPU at all, keeps the code. · full diagram →

An earlier diagram showed the three machines that run her. This one shows all four. The fourth has no graphics card at all, and Alix never executes on it: its only job is to hold the code that describes her and the tests that gate every change before it reaches the machines that do.

The fleet sorts by graphics-card class, because the class decides the job. The big card thinks, the middle one speaks and paints, the small one handles the background grind, and the GPU-less box keeps the blueprints. The rule spelled out along the bottom is the one behind every model swap she’s ever had: a model that fits entirely inside the card beats a bigger one that spills onto the CPU.

The war stories behind each box, the gaming toggle that lied, the config that halved her speed, the cooler that wore out first, are in The machines in full.
